Founded in 1999, The Kitchen Outlet originally named Skywood after its owner Sky Cornell has taken many avenues to arrive where it is today.  

Being homeschooled awarded him the opportunity to work part time in the trade in which his two Uncles mastered, holding two of the largest names in kitchen remodeling.   Born into a family with such kitchen remodeling experience, it was no surprise he would follow in their footsteps.  “Since I was homeschooled through High School, I was given a great opportunity to get ahead on a trade.  I had no idea that what I had once thought to be just a job for the summer, would have turned into the company it is today”. 

When asked whether people took him serious and if being young posed as a great obstacle, “people would always look at me and tell me that I looked younger than their kids, which was in most cases true.  But the bottom line was that remodeling was not rocket science and the key was to take care of the client no matter what and that has never changed.  As a result, I had to provide great quality and exceptional customer service. At the age of 21 he became the youngest contractor in California history to get licensed. 

Much has changed since the early days of Sky starting the business by himself.  The biggest was building a great team.  A key addition would be his mother, Stephanie Cornell.  She brings over 15 years of management and customer satisfaction experience to the table.  Their knowledge and appreciation of beautifully installed kitchens is what makes Sky, Stephanie and The Kitchen Outlet a successful team. “It was a no brainer to bring my mother on board.  It can be difficult trusting others with the companies money so who better to trust than my on mother”. 

Stephanie will be quick to tell you that they do not use every line provided from these manufactures.  “We’re very selective when looking for a new line to carry, it has to meet our standards of great quality and affordability because we take pride in our work and the only reason we are where we are today is because of our high standards and our wonderful clients who are now our friends”.
